About The Event


This event aims to highlight the progress achieved to date and to share the forward direction of the Sustainable Debt Coalition in an evolving global financial environment.
The event will showcase ongoing operational sustainable debt driven initiatives led by the Sub-Regional Office for West Africa, like the structured Debt-for- Climate and Social Development Swaps program which is currently being advanced with Senegal, The Gambia and Ghana, in partnership with technical institutions including Banking Without Borders and International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED).
As the ‘triple crisis’ of debt, biodiversity loss and climate change is growing in low-income countries, Debt-for-climate and -social development swaps offer a compelling alternative: a single, integrated approach that can simultaneously advance climate action, nature conservation, and fiscal sustainability.
